Exhortation: Biblical Sexuality Sunday, 2023

Today is biblical sexuality Sunday. Last year, John MacArthur asked pastors to preach on this subject because of legislation congress considered.Since then, that legislation passed but God’s word remains the same.

‌Sexual sin—adultery, homosexuality, pedophilia, pornography, lust are all evil. But sexual sin is also its own punishment (Proverbs 5:3-4; Romans 1:26-27). But unlike most sins today, people identify with their choice of punishment. The entire LGBTQ movement is a buffet of poison.

But God still saves any type of sinner, that includes sexual sinners. He does with with justification, sanctification, and glorification. If you turn from your sins and trust in Christ, His identity overrules yours. So, if you’re in Christ, God no longer considers you a luster, a homosexual, or a transgender (Romans 8:1). He declares you righteous because Jesus is righteous. He justifies you.

‌Everyone Jesus justifies, He also sanctifies. He takes you and your mess, sexual sins included and makes a masterpiece out of you. Handmade masterpieces take time and attention to detail. For you, it means continued trust and obedience of Jesus. Sanctification is not a mass produced assembly line. It’s hands-on holiness.

‌Finally, Everyone Jesus sanctifies, He glorifies. At the last judgement, after your death, God will declare you righteous in his court room because you really will be. At the last judgement your sin will remain six feet under while you live eternally free and righteous.‌

So, my exhortation on biblical sexuality Sunday is, you are all great sinners but Jesus is a greater savior. No matter what you sexual sin, repent and believe, confess and trust. Jesus saves.
