Concerning the Assassination Attempt of President Trump

I’m sure most of you by now have seen the footage of bullets grazing President Trump at a rally in Pennsylvania. As I’m typing this, more information is coming out on Twitter concerning this horrible wickedness. Lord willing, we will know more in the next few days. Until then, I wanted to offer a few points of encouragement.

First, thank God President Trump is still alive. Our God providentially preserved his life.

Second, pray for the families of those who were injured or who died from the shooting. While we’re observing a spectacle from the comfort of our sofas, some families are grieving with cameras in their faces. Grieve with them and pray for them.

Third, wait. I encourage us all to wait at least until tomorrow to say or do anything in reaction to this shooting. Christians act like Christ. When He was reviled, He did not revile in return (1 Pet 2:23).

Fourth, trust in God. If you feel scared, angry, or anxious, cast those feelings on Christ. Trust in Him. God gives His grace for moments like this.

I hope you all have a blessed night. I look forward to worshipping our Lord with you tomorrow.
